Packaging & Artwork Technologist

Reports to:
  • Packaging and Artwork Team Leader
  • 3 Packaging Technologists and 1 Artwork Technologist reporting into above role
Key Responsibilities:
  • To advise technical and business constraints of printed packaging components for new and existing company products from design stage through to actual production.
  • To consistently review and update existing packs and packaging components, ensuring that consideration is given to all relevant factors
  • Actively participate in internal and external packaging change meetings. Pro-actively preparing and communicating project status to support implementation timings
  • Manage and co-ordinate new project development with marketing, regulatory and design agencies ensuring effective project timings and plans are in place to meet the necessary business constraints
  • Agree technical drawings with manufacturing contacts to ensure that packaging components are correctly specified
  • Check artwork as per the guidelines set out under the Artwork Check List including design and layout, colour, over printing etc.
  • To provide technical assistance to other company departments, contract packaging companies,including acting as team member for project teams looking at packaging relating activities e.g. Attending print runs of new product components
  • To indirectly support the Artwork Technologist with any technical requirements and information e.g. Electronic data and drawings to ensure project timings are achieved taking into consideration artwork constraints
  • Institute of Packaging qualification desirable
  • 3 years minimum experience preferred in a Pharmaceutical / Packaging and/or Toiletry environment

  • Artwork creation software for AppleMac’s including: Illustrator, Quark Express, Photoshop, Indesign and Adobe Acrobat
