Who we are

Felicity Ashton – Director & Founder of Flixx

It’s important to Felicity that Clients and Candidates know what she’s all about and the ethos of Flixx.

Boots in Nottingham:

Having trained in Polymer Science at UMIST specialising in Packaging, she started her career on a graduate programme at Boots in Nottingham as a Packaging Technologist. An amazing introduction to the world of packaging within such a Blue Chip Organisation. It was an eye opener to how complex the life of a Technologist was, a pivotal role within a much broader team, internally within Boots and externally with customers, suppliers, printers, repro houses etc. It was exciting and a fantastic learning experience, and it was here that she got a taste for working with a variety of people and relished the daily interaction.

Smithers RAPRA in Shawbury:

After a few years at Boots, she had a calling back to her more technical/innovative roots and a vacancy leaped out for a Packaging Specialist at Smithers Rapra in Shawbury, a Rubber & Plastics Research Association. They were looking to hone their Packaging expertise. This was a fulfilling role dealing directly with Packaging clients investigating solutions to specific material problems they encountered. Being an R&D Centre it couldn’t have been a more contrasting environment to the corporate world of Boots, hence why it offered a new dimension to her skill set and was undoubtedly a massive benefit to her recruitment career going forward.

Flixx Recruitment:

Following a few years at Rapra she was ready to broaden her horizons and started putting feelers out for new Packaging roles and sought help from Recruitment Agencies. She was shocked that none of them had a clue what a Packaging Technologist did, and they had her trudging round the country attending interviews that she didn’t have the right experience for. It was disheartening and time wasting, but got her thinking! How about setting up a Recruitment Business specialising in Technical Packaging Vacancies, with the unique offering of her technical packaging background. It encompassed everything she loved, Packaging and People. So 12 years down the line, it was definitely a worth while move
